Are you a social work or counseling student looking for an internship/field practicum site? Aspen Therapy Collective is a private practice looking to add an intern to our clinical team! We are a unique private practice with a dual mission of serving the community, as well as developing an enhanced mental health workforce by offering internships and employment for pre-licensed clinicians.
Throughout the internship, you will receive individual and group supervision, play therapy training/supervision, and business training. The position is W-2, meaning interns get paid for clinical time, supervision and administrative time. Private practice is hard and rewarding, and our goal is to provide a supportive environment while you discover how to integrate your program learning into the field. Alyssa Wermers (owner and supervisor) is an LCSW and can support social work and counseling students. She is also a Registered Play Therapy Supervisor and can provide APT approved play therapy supervision.

Aspen Therapy Collective is a private practice that provides primarily in person and some online psychotherapy to children, adolescents, adults, and families. ATC values inclusivity, diversity, and access to care, and is in-network with most types of insurance, including Medicaid. Our primary clientele are children and each therapy room is equipped for play therapy.

Position Summary:
Aspen Therapy Collective is looking for mental health interns who are interested in providing play therapy, as well as some individual therapy for adolescents, and adults. The position is office based in Lafayette. The position will require foundational clinical skills, the ability to take initiative and work independently, as well as a desire to connect with a collaborative community. The ideal candidate will also have interest in working in an insurance-based private practice and will be given learning opportunities to develop this throughout the internship period.
Learning Opportunities:
· Learn and apply clinical skills to practice such as play therapy, narrative work, engagement and assessment skills, trauma modalities, acceptance and commitment therapy, mindfulness, somatic-based therapy, etc.
· Examine the impact of systemic oppression on the lives of people and mental health systems. Apply anti-racist and liberation based practices to clinical work.
· Collaborate with team members and community supports such as family members, doctors, medication providers, teachers, schools, OT/PT/SLP, etc.
· Examine policies that impact mental health and the local community. Participate in social action activities in order to make positive change for mental healthcare.
Position Responsibilities:
· Engage children, adolescents, adults, and families in assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, provide psychotherapy, crisis support, and care collaboration.
· Provide resource development and support for the practice.
· Maintain a caseload of 8-10 client appointments per week.
· Complete all required documentation in a timely manner.
· Participate in supervision, team meetings, and required trainings.
· Be available for at minimum of 10 appointments outside of school hours (3 pm and later) each week

Requirements:
· Engaged in a social work or counseling Masters degree program from an accredited university.

· Strong foundational clinical skills and willingness to learn and grow
· Ability to engage in problem solving
· Good time management and organizational skills
Preferred qualifications:
· Training/coursework in play therapy modalities
· Previous experience working with children
· Evening availability/flexible schedule
